Overview of location  

At the Ballybane training centre Cafe Link runs two different courses one being a community integration program and the other one being a cafe skills course. Each of these courses provide skills and certifications for applications to be employable outside of Cafe Link  

Integration Project 

The Community Integration course, funded by the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, supports international protection applications and works with them to gain valuable skills to prepare for employment. Students in the course will complete certificates in manual handling and HACCP at both levels 1 and 2, and receive other support as well as interviewing, hospitality, and CV skills for future employability in the greater community. 

Cafe Skills Course 

The Cafe Skills Course which is currently funded by Galway City Council's CAIRDE fund, provides a unique opportunity for people with intellectual disabilities provides an opportunity to train up, gain hands on practical skills in our existing cafes, but then will become job ready to work in a cafe or catering environment elsewhere. Upon completing the course, students will gain a QQI level 2 certification in general learning, barista skills, first aid, manual handling, and HACCP level 1 and 2 to enable employment in the food industries outside of cafe link. Job search will be delivered by one of our partners EmployAbility Galway or Galway City Partnerships ‘WorkAbility’ programme.
